Scandinavian Cyber-Posten

Welcome to the Scandinavian Cyber-Posten!

The Scandinavian Cyber-Posten is my blog for the band. Ever since I started reading The Machine's Pump on the Brave Combo website I've wanted my own blog. After all, I'm a creative and intelligent person and I have thoughts on a lot of things. Here's a place where you can read what I think about a variety of topics. I hope you enjoy what you read. If you have any feedback on what I've written, email me at toby@smilinscandinavians.com

Lovely May

Hello readers! The month of May is in full swing. Last night we played for the Syttendemai Dance at Leif Erikson Lodge #1 in Seattle. It was a lot of fun. The crowd was very jovial and lively and it was a wonderful celebration of Norway's Independence.

Another joy of the month of May is the Maifest in Leavenworth. Maifest is basically a good excuse for Germans to drink beer and eat sausages (as if an excuse is needed). It's a good occasion for polka music, too, which is where we come in.

Best of all is the Northwest Folklife Festival at Seattle Center. Folklife is a four-day party where musicians get to take over the Seattle Center to play music. It's like Disneyland for musicians. I love it. It's an endless feast of every kind of music imaginable. I'm playing with a dance orchestra on Saturday night and then, of course, with the Smilin' Scandinavians on Sunday afternoon. In between I'll be listening to everything from bluegrass to Dixieland (and other non-banjo-related musics) and hanging out with all my musical friends I only see occasionally.

Yay May!
